A friendly relaxed approach to teaching sets pupils at ease and allows them to progress as fast as their ability allows which of course varies from person to person with how often lessons are taken and lesson duration. I recommend 1hr lessons for brand new drivers progressing to 1.5hrs once or twice a week depending on how quickly a pupil wishes to be test ready.
